Description

The American Water Resources Association (AWRA) knows that many scientists, academics, and researchers in our community are highly educated, talented individuals who are passionate about water. Their “science” success leads to promotions where leadership and management skills become critical to know and perform. But have you been trained in managing highly effective teams or maintaining a healthy work culture? Do you know the legalities of hiring and firing, employee policies, and must have leadership skills, including effective communication, teamwork, leadership, and problem-solving?

If the answer is ‘no’, meaning I am a water resource professional, but I am not sure I have the skills to lead, then you must join our summer program called Soft Skills for Scientists: Building your Leadership and Management Toolkit. Furthermore, while water resources scientists and professionals are highly collaborative, soft skills such as interpersonal communication, problem-solving, and negotiation can be critical to a scientist's success in working with others in this multidisciplinary profession.

Soft skills are becoming increasingly valued in many fields, including science. With automation and artificial intelligence increasingly present in the world of work, interpersonal and behavioral skills are even more critical, as they are (for now) impossible to automate. By combining technical and interpersonal skills, scientists can reap the rewards of their work by expanding the power of collaboration in teams, developing their self-leadership, and building a successful and sustainable career.

Join us to develop these leadership skills through this offered training.

Webinar Recording & PDH Certificate

Included with your webinar registration is access to a fillable certificate to self-report your Professional Development Hour (PDH)/Continuing Education Credit (CEU).
